21CW Mod — A Brief History

Born in the Battlefield 2 era, 21st Century Warfare paired a custom gameplay mod with a season-based tournament — using ranks, structured armies and persistent campaigns. The 21CW Mod shipped multiple releases over the years and powered our Saturday operations long before “Portal” was a thing.

  • 2006–2007: Early BF2 releases (e.g., v1.1.3, v1.1.7a) established the tournament ruleset and kit balance.
  • 2011 era: 3.x line (e.g., v3.4.0, v3.8.0) refined weapons, vehicles and end-of-round UX while supporting large campaign play.
  • Today: We bring that same campaign DNA forward — your Portal SDK work feeds directly into weekly 32v32 CW operations.
