How the battles worked (all orgs)
- Mainpage battle map: Weekly objectives & territory changed on the website campaign map; armies planned ops from there.
- Long single-day battles: WaW ran marathon Saturdays (64-player). 21CW BF2 era ran Saturdays commonly 12:00–18:00 ET. IC:JO ran long Sunday ops.
- Chain of command: Generals → HC → companies/regiments; ranks, medals, strategy docs.
- Voice comms: TeamSpeak with public TS info often posted on TotalBF2/TotalGamingNetwork.
2002–2004 — BF1942 & Desert Combat (DC era)
- DC surge defines the format: two armies, persistent campaign, ranks, medals, weekly ops.
- MFOTS + early BFE/WaW experiments lay groundwork; 21CW grows out of the DC scene.
2002–2006 — The “big four” take shape (WaW, BFE, 21CW, IC)
